Solid Life Church Daily Blog by Pastors Russ & Becky

It’s here!

We are really excited to get started on this year's 21 day fast.  We are so glad that you have decided to Join the Fasting Movement with us.  Fasting bring you into a deeper, more intimate and more powerful relationship with the Lord and we are all on our way!

Remember on this first day to :
  • Pray and stay in God’s Word  (if you don’t pray during your normal meal times or spend time with God over and above your normal routine, this will be more like a starvation diet)
  • Drink lots of water
  • Expect headaches, hunger pains, cravings for food, sugar and caffeine and remember when you feel these feelings it is to be a reminder that we want to have that same hunger/desire for God
  • Fill out your fasting contract- it’s between you and God, but you need to decide beforehand what you are going to fast, how long and what your own personal reasons for fasting are and then put it in writing which will help you in the tough times.
  • Play worship music as much as possible and surround yourself with the things of God
Remember, we’re in this together, so let's take a moment everyday to pray for each other and to encourage each other through this blog.  We know you can do it!

As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for you, O God.  My soul thirst for God, for the living God!  Psalm 42:1-2

  2. Hi there,
Even though this is not my first fast it is the very first time that I'm doing a 'water' for 3 days only fast. I could not have done this without the Lord's strenght. Day one was easy. Then came day two. I woke up with a migraine(splitting headache and nausia) that kept me in bed until midmorning. I was the happiest woman with a migraine when the school emailed at 5am letting us know there will not be school.
When I finally came downstairs I saw the most beautiful sight outside. Our garden covered in a thick blanket of snow and what looked like diamonds glittering as the sun kissed it. It was the brightest most beautiful day outside. I was so in awe of it all, when I recalled a time 2 years ago when I got baptised and afterward everything seemed to glow and look so new. It was explained to me that I have been made new, so everything around me looked new and fresh.

During this fast when we draw nearer to Jesus, we are being made a new creation in Him. He wants to wash all the scales off of our eyes so we can see Him in everything around us.
Even though I still feel poorly today I know that I am being changed from the inside out. God sees everything we do, every effort we make. He is a rewarder of the righteous. I expect my prayers to be answered! How about you?

  3. I love the song "our God" by Chris Tomlin. Who doesn't?? While all the lyrics are amazing, one verse has been repeating itself in my head for the last two days "open the eyes of the blind". Just that one, no others. After reading your post, now I know why. I never thought of these lyrics as applying to me, but to those that don't know Him. You said "He wants to wash all the scales off of our eyes so we can see Him in everything around us." My prayer now is, what am I (and our church family) blind to? What does He want to show us, tell us. May our eyes be opened. Thx, Yolanda.

  4. Pastor Russ, as I was soaping and praying this morning God placed a heavy burden on my heart to specifically lift you up in prayer. I want you to know that we love you and stand behind you. You are a great pastor. Be encouraged! God is faithful and has great things in store.
